Saturn scientific development and production center’s aviation training center expands its range of activity

In the interests of more completely satisfying clients’ demands for training in technical maintenance of the SaM146 engine, OAO NPO (research and production association) Saturn aviation training center successfully completed an audit and on 01.02.2011 got approval from Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) to teach the course ‘Inspecting the SaM146 engine with a borescope’.

The work of OAO NPO Saturn aviation training center is an integral part of after-sales service for the SaM146 engine. The goal of the training center is to provide services in training engineering and technical personnel of aviation companies, repair organizations, and Saturn specialists who will be carrying out technical servicing and repairs on the SaM146 engines.

On July 15, 2010 at Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia), OAO NPO Saturn aviation training center was awarded with a Certificate with the right to conduct educational activities. This event concluded the certification phase of the training center according to Russian rules, and granted access for purchasers of the SSJ100 airplane to the training programs ‘General overview of the power unit’ and ‘Linear and basic technical servicing of the power unit’.

And so OAO NPO Saturn aviation training center offers clients three courses, using the newest technology for theoretical instruction and practical exercises on engine mock-ups. They have been developed in accordance with ATA104 standards, together with representatives from Snecma training center.

Study at a certified aviation training center is a mandatory requirement for qualification of aviation company personnel involved in servicing aviation engines (articles 2 and 8 of the Aviation Code of the Russian Federation).

At present, OAO NPO Saturn aviation training center conducts training of specialists on SaM146 engines, managing the aftersales service of gas turbine engines and in February-March 2011 is preparing to accept for training specialists from the launch purchasers of the SSJ100 airplane (from Aeroflot – Russian Airlines and Armavia).
