PERM MOTOR-BUILDERS HAVE COMPLETED DELIVERY FOR THE FIRST STAGE OF NORD STREAM!

In January 2011 they dispatched GTU-16P to the Pikalevskaya compressor plant. And so OAO Perm Engine Company (Permsky Motorny Zavod) fulfilled its order for OAO Gazprom to deliver Perm gas turbines developed by OAO Aviadvigatel for the first phase of the Nord Stream project.

On the terrestrial section of the trunk gas pipeline currently under construction, four out of the seven compressor stations will be equipped with Perm gas turbine units (GTUs). The gas compressor units were prepared by NPO (research and production association) Iskra. Beginning in 2009, the Perm Engine Company delivered thirteen GTUs with a capacity of 16 megawatts to the compressor stations Shekinskaya, Pikalevskaya, and Yelizavetinskaya, and five GTUs with a capacity of 25 megawatts to the Babayevskaya station. The total capacity of the Perm gas turbines allocated for the first stage of the north-European gas pipeline amounts to more than 300 megawatts. This year they will begin delivering machines for the second stage.

Among the basic advantages of Perm gas turbines is their high thermal efficiency, conformity to the clients demands for reliability indicators, and their high durability indicators.

The GTU-16P series has been in production since 1999 and has stood the test of time, proving itself in exploitation at gas compressor stations in Russia, Belarus, and Turkey. To date, Perm machines in this weight class are in use at more than thirty Gazprom facilities. As of the beginning of January 2011 the company had made 204 GTU-16Ps. They have worked a total of about three million hours.

The GTU-25P is the youngest and thus far the most powerful of the Perm machines. Having passed a rigorous raft of tests, it is in its seventh year of successful work at OOO Gazprom transgas Chaikovsky facility KS Igrinskaya. The high thermal efficiency and power of this unit led Gazprom to choose the GTU-25P to equip its future gas pipeline Nord Stream. As of the beginning of January, Perm Engine Company had made 13 GTU-25Ps. They have worked a total of more than 39,000 hours.

Installation of Perm gas turbines for Nord Stream is to begin in March-April of this year.
