Perm Engine Company finishes equipment for Nord Stream

Perm / 13.10.2011 — At the end of September, Perm Engine Company JSC fulfilled its contract with Gazprom JSC and delivered two -16 gas turbine units to equip the Elizavetskaya compressor station on the Nord Stream gas pipeline. In 2009-2011 in accordance with the contract, a total of eight gas turbine units with a capacity of 16 mW and one reserve engine were delivered to the Elizavetskaya compressor station. This delivery completes the equipping of this station.

In total since September 2009 in accordance with its contract with Gazprom JSC, Perm Engine Company JSC has manufactured and delivered 25 units and four reserve engines to four stations on the terrestrial section of the Nord Stream pipeline. In March 2011 the delivery of eight Perm -25 units and one reserve engine to the Babaevskaya compressor station was completed. In November 2011 under the contract with Gazprom JSC, PEC JSC will deliver a further four gas turbines units with a capacity of 16 mW: one to the Pikalevskaya station, and three to the Shekinskaya station. This will complete the equipping of Nord Stream compressor stations with Perm gas turbine units. A total of 29 gas turbine units made by the Perm Engine Company will operate on this important gas pipeline.

Alexei Mikhalyov, Perm Engine Company JSC managing director, commented on the company’s fulfillment of the contractual obligations to their largest partners, saying:

To strengthen and develop our cooperation, we are expanding our range of gas turbine units, and constantly working to improve reliability and quality. As a result, today our top units can operate without repair for more than 40,000 hours with a specified service life of 25,000 hours. On the whole, this allows the Perm Engine Company to command 40% of the Russian market for gas turbine units, and to actively attract new orders.”

Nord Stream- is a gas pipeline between Russia and Germany, running across Russia and the Baltic Sea seabed. The terrestrial section is 917 kilometers long and includes seven compressor stations. Gas turbines made by Perm Engine Company JSC fully equip four of them  Elizavetskaya, Pikalevskaya, Babaevskaya, and Shekinskaya.
