October 7, 2011, Rybinsk ó The grand total of hours chalked up by NPO Saturnís GTD-6RM engines has reached the significant milestone of 1,000,000.
In 2000 Saturn developed the GTD-6RM engine, based on the second series of the converted D-30KU/KP aviation engines, and intended for work in the GTA-6RM gas turbine plant with a nominal output of 6 mW.
The GTD-6RM engine is assembled using parts and structures from the D-30KU/KP engines, which had worked out their airplane endurance but still meet requirements of the GTD-6RM, which helps keep a competitively low price for the end product in comparison with analogous engines.
Depending on the particulars of the intended application of the GTA-6RM by end-users, the GTD-6RM engine can be manufactured in a variety of different assemblages ó to work with gaseous or liquid fuel (natural gas, associated petroleum gas of various quality, diesel). The GTD-6RM engine can be adapted for use in a variety of different climatic conditions ó from northern arctic regions to tropical zones. The engineís service life is 120,000 hours, with an overhaul period of 30,000 hours.
The GTD-6RM engine was launched into industrial use in 2002 as part of the GTES-12 on the territory of NPO Saturn.
In 2003 the GTA-6RM gas turbine assembly with GTD-6RM engine underwent certification and testing, receiving a certificate Ļ –ő—— RU. Ő’04. ¬00031 and act of MVI (procedure of measurements) from 04.12.2003. In 2004 the design documentation for the GTD-6RM engine was assigned an ĄAĒ status, ready for mass production.
There are currently 66 GTD-6RM engines with a variety of specifics. The enterprise has to date supplied energy equipment to a whole raft of Russian regions: Zelenograd, Naryan-Mar, Omsk, Surgut, the Moscow region, Ivanov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Volgograd, Rostov, Vologod, Kaliningrad, the Komi republic, and others. As of September 2011 the grand total of service by all the GTD-6RM engines in the field amounted to 1,000,000 hours.
