Aviadvigatel JSC specialists took top places in a competition for the best research or design work, being held as part of the 58th scientific-technical session on problems of gas turbines and combined-cycle plants.

The session heard reports from leading scientists and specialists in the field of electrical energy, highlighting problems in developing and using gas turbines and combined-cycle plants, as well as the potential for their development and modernization. Presenters paid special attention to issues of developing and implementing modern, innovative technologies developed in Russia.
As part of the session, they ran the third competition for the best research or design work by specialists under thirty. First place went to “An analysis of the thermal state of the working rotary blades of a turbine taking into account the flow in the combustion chamber”, by Leonid Gomzikov, a structural analyst with JSC Aviadvigatel’s structural analysis department.
Second place went to “A numerical modelling of the thermal state in adjacent equipment and an analysis of the efficiency of improved-quality cooling of the turbine blades” by a group of design engineer analysts from JSC Aviadvigatel’s experimental design department — Alexei Tikhonov, Stanislav Sendyurev, and Nikolai Samokhvalov.
Third place was shared by specialists from the RAN Institute of Energy Research and the Baranov Central Institute of Aviation Engine-building.
