Perm Engine Company specialists take part in a scientific-technical conference

Perm engine-builders have taken part in the fifth All-Russian Scientific-Technical Conference of Young Specialists and students, on December 7-9 in Ufa. It was organized by the Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UMPO).

The aim of conference was to strengthen the corporate relations between United Engine Corporation enterprises and with higher education establishments.

Young specialists from the Perm Engine Company took part in two sections of the conference — “Projects to develop production systems” and “Technological Section”. They presented reports on themes of flow-line production on the basis of existing production capacity at the Perm Engine Company, and reorganizing systems of design work in auxiliary shops by implementing “supermarket” principles (organizing inventory management systems based on the minimum threshold principle which won’t let exceed the fixed level of stores and unclaimed excesses appear). The Perm engine-builders also addressed the issue of improving the enterprise’s products, referring to them specifically in the technical report “Balancing rotor blades of axial compressors and turbines with incongruous working and balancing surfaces”.

Sergei Nikiforov, director for developing production systems at Perm Engine Company, and a jury member at the conference, elaborated: “We need to take these steps. Contact with colleagues from other enterprises allows our young specialists the chance to judge their own level objectively, to see where they are succeeding and where they need to work harder.”

There were many interesting reports at the conference. They confirmed that the United Engine Corporation today has many thoughtful young employees, capable of realizing large projects, which is vital for the successful development of the field.
