Oboronprom CEO Andrey Reus notes UMPO’s important role in the PD-14 engine project

Oboronprom CEO Andrey Reus visited the Ufa Engine Industrial Association today. As part of his visit, he met with UMPO leadership, and visited new production facilities making parts for the PD-14 engine for te MC-21 civil aviation liner. A central committee member of the Russian Engineering Union as well as Oboronprom CEO, Andrey Reus noted UMPO’s important role in creating the PD-14: “Ufa is doing a great deal of work on the PD-14. We have just visited the areas designated for working on this engine. This project is number one in our holding, which will determine a lot of the opportunities for working on engines for front-line aircraft. The technologies that we are developing as we work on the civilian line, we will also be applying in our new developments.” After meeting with the team, Mr Reus took part in a session of the regional committee of the Russian Engineering Union, during which a new chairman for the regional department was chosen.

Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UMPO) is one of the largest producers of aviation engines in Russia. Its turnover in 2010 was 20,376 billion rubles. Its primary areas of business are the production, service, and repair of turbo-jet aviation engines and gas turbine units, as well as production and repair of helicopter technology units. UMPO is part of the United Engine Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oboronprom handling engine-building assets.

United Industrial Corporation Oboronprom is a multi-faceted machine-building group founded in 2002. It is part of the Russian Technologies group of companies. Its primary areas of business are helicopters (Russian Helicopters), engine-building (UEC), and other assets. In 2011 the corporation’s turnover exceeded 229 billion rubles.
