Alexander Artyukhov, managing director of the Ufa Engine Industrial Association, was unanimously chosen as the new chairman of the Bashkortostan regional department of the Russian Engineering Union. The powers of the previous chairman, general director of the Ufa Aggregate Production Association Yury Poroshin, were curtailed at his request. The re-election took place yesterday at UMPO at an expanded session of the regional committee of the department, and was attended by OBORONPROM CEO and Russian Engineering Union central committee member Andrey Reus.
Alexander Viktorovich Artyukhov was born on July 20, 1970. He graduated from the Ufa State Aviation Technical University, specialising in ‘the economy, organization, and management of machine-building’ (1996), and from the Bashkiriya Academy for State Service and Management specialising in Finance Management (1998). He started working at UMPO in 1991. He is currently UMPO managing director, head of the military aviation engines division created as part of the United Engine Corporation in 2011. In 2009 Mr Artyukhov was named an Honored Machine-builder of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The Russian Engineering Union’s activities cover the social, labor, and economic aspects of machine-building, metallurgy, and other industrial sectors. The organization represents the interests and protects the rights of companies in their relationships with labor unions, the authorities, and other parties.
Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UMPO) is one of the largest producers of aviation engines in Russia. Its turnover in 2010 was 20,376 billion rubles. Its primary areas of business are the production, service, and repair of turbo-jet aviation engines and gas turbine units, as well as production and repair of helicopter technology units. UMPO is part of the United Engine Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OBORONPROM handling engine-building assets.
United Industrial Corporation OBORONPROM is a multi-faceted machine-building group founded in 2002. It is part of the Russian Technologies group of companies. Its primary areas of business are helicopters (Russian Helicopters), engine-building (UEC), and other assets. In 2011 the corporation’s turnover exceeded 229 billion rubles.
