NPO Saturn employees receive a state award for their role in developing, certifying, and launching production of the SaM146 engine

February 03, 2012, Rybinsk — By order of the president of the Russian Federation, the NPO Saturn team has been awarded state orders for their significant role in developing, certifying, and launching production of the SaM146, which has important national significance.

Andrey Vladimirovich Voronov — sixth grade lathe operator — and Vitaly Yuryevich Romanov — sixth grade automated line and machine operator — both received the Honor of Merit to the Fatherland by Russian Presidential Decree of 21.11.2011.

Igor Dmitrievich Yudin — currently General Director of Saturn Gas Turbines — and Albert Rudolfovich Krivonogov — Deputy Head of the Compressor Design Bureau — were both awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, Second Class by Presidential decree of 29.12.2011 for their great contribution into the development of Russia’s military-industrial complex and their many years of conscientious work. Georgy Mikhaylovich Konyukhov — Deputy Chief Designer and Head of Design for the SaM146 project — received the honorary title of Honored Designer of the Russian Federation for his work in design and his many years of service.

By Presidential decree of 29.12.2011 for their great contribution into the development of Russia’s military-industrial complex and their many years of conscientious work Anatoly Ivanovich Lysenko — Deputy Head of the design bureau for planning and management — received the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, First Class. Natalya Sergeevna Golovkina — Head of the Technological Department — and Alexei Nikolaevich Perov — sixth grade assembly fitter of engines and units — both received the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, Second Class. Alexander Vladimirovich Tarasov — a sixth grade fitter of inspection gauges — received the honorary title of Honored Machinist of the Russian Federation for his many years of service in machine-building. Yevgeny Stepanovich Karpovich — a sixth grade testing engineer — received the Order of Friendship.

The SaM146 program is an equal-share joint venture between Russian company NPO Saturn and French company Snecma, to develop, produce, and promote the new SaM146 engine for applications in next-generation regional aircraft. In April 2003 the SaM146 engine won the tender for Sukhoi to deliver new engines for the SSJ100 family of airplanes. The project is of primary importance and has support from both the Russian and French governments.

The SaM146 engine received its EASA certificate on June 23, 2010. It received its AR MAK certificate on August 13, 2010. Since its launch in April 2011 on the Sukhoi Superjet 100, the SaM146 has confirmed its operating specifics and commercial value. As of February 1, 2012, SaM146 engines on SSJ100 aircraft with passengers on board had worked a total of more than 6,650 hours. The SaM146 engine has a technical readiness coefficient of more than 99%. On January 17, 2012, the SaM146 engine, version 1S18 with an increased launch thrust of 5% — received its EASA certificate.
