The Perm Engine Company holds its annual conference on quality

The Perm Engine Company held a conference to examine how it met its quality goals and standards in 2011. Managers and specialists from Perm Engine Company, Aviadvigatel, Reduktor-PM, and subcontractors all took part.

Reports characterizing the general quality indicators for products (the PS-90A family of engines, and the range of gas turbine units for industrial applications) were presented by: Perm Engine Company managing director Alexey Mikhalyov, Aviadvigatel managing director and chief designer Alexander Inozemtsev, Aviadvigatel chief designers Nikolay Semenov, Mikhail Khayrullin, and Daniil Sulimov, PMZ director for quality Sergey Tylibtsev, and PMZ technical director Ivan Bashkatov.

During the conference, it was noted that figures for reliability of both aviation and gas turbine unit engines have stabilized at 2010 levels. In 2012, company managers want to see significant improvement in these figures.

The conference paid particular attention to issues of cooperating with suppliers of parts, partially-manufactured goods, and materials. PMZs technological and engineering services are currently engaged in working with all suppliers to implement stringent requirements for quality improvement. The 2011 results for cooperation with the Mashinostroitel plant were noted in Q42011, the number of parts returned as not meeting PMZs technical specifications for quality fell to nearly zero.

Perm Engine Company managing director Alexey Mikhalyov: Our intensive work to improve technical parameters in our products thus improving overall quality continues unabated. Today Perm Engine Company is facing the task of increasing production volumes of modern and upcoming products Gazproms orders for GTUs in 16 and 25 mW capacities are increasing, and from 2016 we will launch mass production of the fifth-generation PD-14 aviation engine. Our goal is to achieve these tasks while exceeding all leading global manufacturers of aviation and industrial gas turbine engines on quality figures. For this is the only way to achieve success in the modern global marketplace.
