Management of Chernyshev Machine-building enterprise turned over to UMPO

Ufa, February 20, 2012 — The Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UMPO) has taken on the role of the sole executive body for the Chernyshev Moscow Machine-building Enterprise. The corresponding agreement was signed between the two companies in January 2012, with a period of five years.

The decision to transfer management functions was made in connection with the founding within United Engine Corporation of a division for Military Aircraft Engines, of which UMPO is named a lead company and its managing director, Alexander Artyukhov, is the head.

The division unites the scientific and production potential of Chernyshev, Motor, and Salyut gas turbines, and will be responsible for developing the country’s military aviation. In the future, UMPO will also take over management of Saturn, Lyulki, and Lytkarinsky Machine Plant.

The division’s main products will be the AL-31F, AL-31FP, AL-55I, 117S series, and others. Work on the engine for the promising air complex of front-line aviation has been designated a priority area.

Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UMPO) is one of the largest producers of aviation engines in Russia. Its primary areas of business are the production, service, and repair of turbo-jet aviation engines and gas turbine units, as well as production and repair of helicopter technology units. UMPO is part of the United Engine Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OBORONPROM handling engine-building assets.

Chernyshev Moscow Machine-building Enterprise is a company specializing in aviation engines. It is a part of the United Engine Corporation.
