Perm Engine Company Finishes Delivery of the Second Section of the Nord Stream Gas Pipeline

Perm/March 15, 2012 In early March 2012 the Perm Engine Company delivered two gas turbine units (GTUs) for the trunk gas pipeline Nord Stream and thereby finished delivery of the second part of one of Gazpromís most important assets. One GTU-16P is for the Shekinskaya compressor station and one is for the Pikalevskaya. All together a total of 29 Perm-built gas turbine units and four reserve engines have been delivered to four compressor stations on the pipeline.

Four out of seven compressor stations on the terrestrial part of the Nord Stream pipeline are fitted exclusively with Perm-built GTUs ó the Elizavetskaya, Pikalevskaya, Babaevskaya, and Shekinskskaya stations. Three of them use GTU-16P 16 mW units, and the Babaevskaya station uses a GTU-25P, 25 mW capacity unit, to provide the extra power needed on this part of the line.

Additional information: The Nord Stream gas pipeline is a trunk gas pipeline between Russia and Europe, crossing Russian territory and running along the Baltic Sea seabed. The terrestrial part of the gas pipeline runs 917 km, and includes seven compressor stations. The first branch of Nord Stream has a capacity of 8.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year, and was launched in November 2011. After the second branch is launched in 2012, Nord Stream will be able to transport 55 billion cubic meters of Russian gas to Europe every year.
