Engine builders hold their traditional recreational gathering

Perm/03.07.2012 In June, several hundred young employees with Perm Engine Company gathered at the factory’s traditional three-day recreational gathering. The best participants represented PMZ at the rally of working youth in the Sverdlovsk district in the city of Perm.

In 2012 the factory gathering drew 19 teams from the company’s assembly lines and departments. Sports lovers had the chance to show off in competitions in volleyball, soccer, archery, weightlifting, medley relays, obstacle course, and orienteering. Altogether there were 13 different sports competitions.

In addition to the sports, there were also creative competitions. Participants sang songs with guitar accompaniment (the best were the specialists from the production manager’s department), and showed off their acting and directing skills. For the first time in the rally’s history, the theatrical productions included awards for three first places — the most creative were the teams from the production manager’s department, the assembly-testing center, and Machine-assembly shop 31.

At the end of the gathering, all competing teams received prizes of a tourist’s pack, and the best of the best also won cups and medals.

“The youth recreational gathering is one of the biggest sporting and mass events at Perm Engine Company. The number of participants is growing steadily — in 2012 there were six more teams than in the previous year,” said Stella Emir-Veli, chairperson of the Perm Engines Youth Council. “Event organizers are the primary Perm Engines trade union organization, the youth council, and the PMZ HR department. The management of our factory takes the rally very seriously. Such events help build the team spirit in workshops and departments, and this creates the basis for successful work every day.”

Cohesion, as well as the sporting and creative talents of Perm Engine Company employees, helped them to do well at the Sverdlovsk district rally of working youth in the city of Perm. A PMZ team came at least third in every single category, and led in tug-of-war and the creative competition. The engine builders took first place in the rally. Now they must defend the honor not only of PMZ, but of the Sverdlovsk district, at the city rally for working youth which will be held August 4-5.
