Perm/20.6.2012 In June the Perm Engine Company held three sporting events at once — the traditional factory track and field meet, and the first ever ‘Dozor-PM’ games and the first ever factory paintball tournament.
At the 73rd track and field meet, organized by Perm Engines primary trade union, 50 teams from different workshops and departments of Perm Engine Company and technically related companies competed, as well as from Reduktor-PM and Aviadvigatel. There were five races, with a winner determined in each. The prizes for the best of the best — four teams from PMZ and one from Aviadvigatel — were cups and medals, as well as gift certificates.
At the Dozor-PM games, 15 teams of young engine builders competed on their knowledge of the company’s history, orienteering, ability to accurately and quickly decipher riddles, and find secret codes. All the participating teams showed their skill and good fortune, and were awarded gift certificates.
And the winners also got Dozor-PM silver prizes — these went to the teas from the computer department, the production management, and machine assembly shop 43 — and a special prize — fighting in the paintball tournament at the White Nights festival with the company leadership team including Aleksey Mikhailyov, managing director, Dmitry Ovsyannikov, director for economics and finance, Sergey Nikiforov, director for developing production systems, Valery Dzunza, head of the assembly and testing complex, and Tatyana Bolshakova, head of the legal department.
The overall winners, thanks to their wit, dexterity, and marksmanship, were the team from the computer department, who achieved a remarkable result in the paintball arena — 7 victories out of 7. After the tournament, participants also approached the managing director with a suggestion that it become a regular event, and also to put together a factory team to compete in city, district, and regional paintball competitions.
Aleksey Mikhailyov, Perm Engine Company managing director:
“Sports and a healthy lifestyle have always helped Perm engine builders to keep fit and work well. Sports events are a good way to strengthen the team and generate team spirit. The idea to organize the Dozor-PM game and the paintball competition came up in the course of preparing and holding the Art of Production art project, which was part of the city’s White Nights 2012 festival. We are trying to offer our workers all opportunities to show off their talents not just in work, but in art, and sport. At the factory, city, and regional level, our workers are proving again and again that the PMZ team is intent on victory.”
