UMPO and Ufa State Aviation University present preliminary results of their joint work

July 4, 2012 On July 5-7 the scientific and practical conference Developing Cooperation between Institutional Sciences and Manufacturing will take place in Ufa, co-organized by the Ufa Engine Industrial Association. Conference participants will evaluate the current situation in partnerships between educational institutions and industrial enterprises and will present preliminary results of the joint project between UMPO and USAU, Creating Technologies and Industrial Production Nodes and Gas Turbine Engine Blades with Light-weight, High-Strength Structures for New Aviation Engines, being implemented as part of work on federal decree No. 218 ĎOn measures of state support for the development of cooperation between Russian higher education institutions and organizations implementing complex projects to create high-tech productioní.

On July 6 a delegation of representatives from the Russian ministries of education and science, Oboronprom, UEC, and the National University of Science and Technology will visit UMPO. The main point of interests for the visitors is the technopark of aviation technology, where they will be testing scientific high-tech developments and preparing them for mass production at UMPO.

Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UMPO) is one of the largest producers of aviation engines in Russia. Its turnover in 2011 was 21,065 million rubles. Its primary areas of business are the production, service, and repair of turbo-jet aviation engines and gas turbine units, as well as production and repair of helicopter technology units. UMPO is part of the United Engine Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OBORONPROM handling engine-building assets.

United Industrial Corporation OBORONPROM is a multi-faceted machine-building group founded in 2002. It is part of the Russian Technologies group of companies. Its primary areas of business are helicopters (Russian Helicopters), engine-building (UEC), and other assets. The companyís takings in 2011 exceeded 229 billion rubles.
