Russian Ministry of Trade and Industry names UMPO best arms industry exporter

Ufa, June 8, 2012.The Ufa Engine Industrial Association has been named by the Russian Ministry of Trade and Industry as the best arms industry exporter of 2011. The decision was made on the basis of an evaluation of documents presented and the calculation method is based on indicators of UMPO’s consolidated export accounts. In 2011 the company’s volume of exports amount to 14.39 billion rubles.

UMPO has been making goods for export for more than 50 years. Today UMPO’s aviation technology is in operation in 49 countries around the world. The quality of the engines is guaranteed by an efficient system of quality management, meeting ISO 9001 international standards and the AS/EN 9100 European Air and Space Standard, as confirmed by the relevant certificates.

Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UMPO) is one of the largest producers of aviation engines in Russia. Its turnover in 2011 was 21,065 million rubles. Its primary areas of business are the production, service, and repair of turbo-jet aviation engines and gas turbine units, as well as production and repair of helicopter technology units. UMPO is part of the United Engine Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OBORONPROM handling engine-building assets.

United Industrial Corporation OBORONPROM is a multi-faceted machine-building group founded in 2002. It is part of the Russian Technologies group of companies. Its primary areas of business are helicopters (Russian Helicopters), engine-building (UEC), and other assets. The company’s takings in 2011 exceeded 229 billion rubles.
