«Aviadvigatel» wins «New Time» gold

New developments by Aviadvigatel specialists have won gold medals, diplomas, and special prizes at the 8th New Time International salon of Inventions and New Technology.

The New Time international salon took place in Sevastopol at the Ukrainian Cultural-Information Center. Over the course of three days, the authoritative jury headed by Professor Pierre Fuemer evaluated more than 520 designs by inventors from 32 countries.

Aviadvigatel was represented by two patent-protected inventions:

  • A device for retaining loose blades in a two-chamber jet engine, Russian patent No. 2433281 issued on November 10, 2011 (by A.A. Inozemtsev, N.L. Koksharov, I.L. Gladky, V.N. Klimov, and S.A. Kharin jointly together with specialists from NPO Iskra M.I. Sokolovsky and B. Mozerov)
  • Fuel-air burner for the combustion chamber of a gas turbine engine, Russian patent No. 2406934 issued on December 20, 2010 (by A.P. Pekov, V.A. Tashkinov, and M.S. Khryashchikov)

Both inventions won gold medals and diplomas at the salon, as well as special prized: the device for retaining loose blades was awarded a prize by the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, and the fuel-air burner won a prize from the Global Forum of Researchers and Inventors.

Implementing the ‘trap’ for damaged blades ensures localization of the damage to the working ventilator blades, thereby averting damage to the aircraft fuselage. This will undoubtedly improve safety in airplane engines.

Using a fuel-air burner in the combustion chamber is intended to lower smoke emissions and help meet strict environmental regulations without hindering performance for aircraft of the Il-96, Il-76TD/MF/MD-90, Tu-204/214, and their other versions.

Aviadvigatel specialists were taking part in the New Time salon of inventions and new technologies for the first time. This successful debut for the Perm engine builders was another confirmation of the innovative work happening at the design firm, showing that it’s on the right path.
