UEC completes licensing for repair work on engines in Egypt

Klimov, part of the United Engine Corporation (UEC), has completed licensing procedures for repair work of helicopter engines in Egypt. The implementation of this project will allow it to conduct repairs on Russian engines installed on Mi-8/17 and Mi-24 helicopters, in accordance with the developer’s requirements, thereby improving operational safety of the equipment in the North African Region.

Licensed repairs on TV3-117 engines are carried out at the ABECO (Arab British Engine Co.) facilities. There are currently more than 100 Russian-made helicopters working in Egypt. They are used in the Egyptian Air Force, as well as having broad applications for civilian use.

“One of UECs priorities is to create systems for servicing engines that are in operation in various parts of the world. We are interested in systematically and comprehensively meeting market demands for servicing,” said UEC General Director Vladislav Masalov. Implementing this project in Egypt will allow us to expand our area of operations in the North African Region and to improve the quality of our helicopter engine servicing.

The contract with ABECO was signed in the interests of the Egyptian Air Force in 2010. As a result of inspection of the facility capacity, the Russian committee confirmed the presence in Egypt of all the essential equipment, quality systems, and qualified personnel, needed to carry out scheduled engine maintenance. Under this project, Klimov will supply spare parts needed to repair the engines, fulfilling the role of comprehensive supervisor and oversight.

Russian Technologies is a Russian corporation founded in 2007 to facilitate the development, production, and export of high-tech industrial products for civil and military applications. Altogether, Russian Technologies encompasses 660 organizations. The corporation includes 17 holdings, 12 of which are in the military-industrial complex, and five of which are in civilian industry. The corporation works in 60 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and supplies products to more than 70 countries around the world.
