UECs Perm companies name new leaders

On January 29 general director of the United Engine Corporation Management Company Vladislav Masalov presented Perm Engine Company with its new managing director  Sergey Popov, previously head of Perm-based STAR. Sergey Ostapenko, STAR chief designer, will take over Popovs role at that company.

The boards of directors of the two Perm companies  PMZ and Star, both part of the United Engine Corporation  made the decision on company leadership. Sergey Popov was named PMZ managing director.

Sergey Vladimirovich Popov was born in 1969 in Rybinsk. In 1992 he graduated from the Rybinsk Aviation-Technical Institute as an engineer of aviation engines, and in 2002 graduated from Moscow State University having studied personnel management. From 1993 to 2003 he worked at NPO Saturn, where he rose through the ranks from machinist to deputy technical director and chief designer for production and resources. From 2003-2005 he held the position of deputy technical director and chief designer for production, and then of acting director, at the Lyulka design firm. From 2005 to 2008 he worked as director of personnel at Saturn. From January 2008 to July 2009 he headed the Perm holding Inkar. Afterwards he returned to Saturn as commercial director. He has been managing director at STAR since January 2012.

Sergey Ostapenko was named managing director at STAR.

Sergey Vladimirovich Ostapenko was born in 1972. In 1995 he graduated from the Perm Polytechnical Institute, having specialized in Aviation instruments and computing technology. He has spent his entire working life with one company  the Perm Aggregate Design Firm (now known as STAR), where he began his career in 1993 as a programmer engineer, and in January 2012 was named chief designer of the company.

These personnel changes are connected with UECs creation of a new Engines for Civil Aviation division, which includes NPO Saturn, PMZ, and Aviadvigatel.
