Denis Manturov, the Minister for Industry and Trade visits UEC’s Perm companies

Today Denis Manturov, the Russian Minister for Industry and Trade on his working visit to the Perm Krai, visited United Engine Corporation companies Perm Engine Company and Aviadvigatel.

As part of his visit, the Minister supervised testing of the next-generation PD-14 engine, and also attended an expanded meeting on implementing the ‘Engines for the MS-21’ project.

“We had a look at the work of the company responsible for developing the PD-14 engine. It will be installed first of all on the MS-21 aircraft, but depending on the needs of the United Aircraft Corporation we are looking to make a whole line of engines, with and without augmented thrust. What we have seen today at the UEC factories is a good marker for other industrial companies, and not only for aviation construction,” said Denis Manturov.

Denis Manturov travelled to Perm with students from the Moscow Aviation Institute, in order to personally demonstrate to future aviators the unique Russian developments in engine building, and to introduce them to the best Russian designers and engineers. The Minister came up with the idea in February of this year, in response to students’ questions at a lecture at MAI on the subject of ‘new challenges and prospects in the development of aviation’.
