Perm GTUs: 15 million hours for Russian power

As of July 20, 2013, gas turbine units (GTUs) made by the Perm Engine Company have worked 15 million hours.

Production of the first GTUs developed by Aviadvigatel began in Perm in 1994, and over nearly 20 years, the Perm Engine Company (PMZ) has made and delivered 690 GTUs to companies in the oil and gas industry and power installations. Just 260 Perm GTUs, used at power stations, have provided 37,000 million kW hours, which is equal to 22 years work for the Perm hydroelectric power station, or two years for the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station.

Today PMZ makes, delivers, repairs, and provides comprehensive servicing in operation for 12 types of gas turbine units of 2.5  25 mW capacity, and in the past 5-7 years has become a leader on the Russian market for gas turbine units.

Sergei Popov, Managing Director of Perm Engine Company:

Perm GTUs are working well across Russia and abroad, and are set apart by their low fuel consumption and high reliability. Each year PMZ gets orders for 50-60 GTUs and as many again are overhauled, of which 75-80 % are orders from Gazprom. Our products allow customers to solve big tasks: significantly reducing expenses on fuel, reducing environmental impact, and utilizing associated petroleum gas. The production of gas turbine units along with aviation engines is one of the main areas of business for our company, and we are always working to improve the quality of our products and to improve servicing in operation.

Under the Ural Gazprom program launched in 1994, cooperation has been established between 30 engine building companies in Perm and the surrounding region on developing, making, and delivering not only gas turbine units, but also gas transportation equipment and power stations for companies in the oil and gas industry and power installations, providing 25,000 jobs in qualified labour.

Perm Engine Company (PMZ) mass producer of aviation engines for civil and military applications, as well as industrial gas turbine units for power stations and gas transportation.

PMZ is part of the United Engine Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OBORONPROM specializing in engine-building assets.
