UEC to provide technical servicing and overhaul repair on Turbomeca engines

On the first day of MAKS 2013, the United Engine Corporation (a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of Rostech State Corporation) and French company Turbomeca (Safran Group) have signed a contract arranging technical servicing and repair and overhaul work on Arrius 2G1 and Ardiden 3G helicopter engines in Russia.

The document was signed by Vladislav Masalov, UEC General Director and Olivier Andreas, Turbomeca President and General Director.

Under the agreement, all work connected with repair or overhaul of the Turbomeca Arrius 2G1 helicopter engines, fitted on the new light-weight Ka-226T helicopter, and the Ardiden 3G, intended for the upcoming mid-weight Ka-62 helicopter, will be handled by the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UWCA — a part of UEC) under license agreement.

UWCA’s work will be certified as a centre for technical servicing and repair of the French engines, including conducting tests on the engines and components.

“Rostech has many years of experience in efficient partnership with the majority of the world’s biggest players in the air and space industry,” said Sergei Chemezov, Rostech General Director . “Expanding partnership with the Safran Group will allow us to access modern technologies for overhaul repair of engines and will provide our partners with a high level of service and aftersales service on equipment.”

Turbomeca will deliver to the Russian company tools and spare parts, will train specialists, and will provide essential technical support in the course of the repair work.

The contract envisages staged introduction of repair of helicopter engines operating in Russia. By mid-2015 Arrius 2G1 repair work will be under way.

Olivier Andreas, President and General Director of Turbomeca, said, “We are very glad to announce the creation in Russia of a centre for technical servicing and overhaul repair of engines, which is part of our global strategy for operational support, aimed at providing high-quality services in accordance with best practice and standards, for all operational Turbomeca engines.”
