New agreement for NPO Saturn at MAKS 2013

August 29, 2013, Rybinsk. On August 28, 2013 at the MAKS 2013 International Aviation and Space Salon in Zhukovsky, an agreement was signed on mutual cooperation within the framework of the innovative regional cluster Gas Turbine Construction and Power Machine Construction of the Yaroslavl Region between cluster coordinator NPO Saturn and the ASIS AeroSpace Initiative Saxony and VEMAS engine building.

Under the agreement other agreements have been reached on cooperation in the area of transfer of innovative technology with the aim of improving production efficiency. In Rybinsk within the framework of inter-cluster cooperation there will be the first technological forum. The forum will be co-organized by research institutes and companies in Saxony and by NPO Saturn, in light of successful experience in conducting such events. The representatives of science and production from various companies in Saxony will be able to learn about the tasks being handled by the Gas Turbine Construction and Power Machine Construction cluster, as well as those directly handled by NPO Saturn and other companies. The form of inter-cluster cooperation will allow them to attract a wide range of potential partners.

According to Ilya Fedorov, Managing Director of NPO Saturn and Head of the Cluster Council, we are expecting that the participants to the agreement offer us modern technical and technological solutions, new partner relationships, including with representatives of small and medium businesses in the development of outsourcing. The agreement promises participants wide cooperation in the scientific sphere as well. Leasing institutes of Saxony have a great deal of scientific and technical experience in areas of interest to us. We will seek out new forms of cooperation under the framework of the regional cluster and those scientific institutions which are included within it, and we will look for new points to create new high-tech innovative products.

This agreement within the framework of the innovative regional cluster Gas Turbine Construction and Power Machine Construction aims to solve the most topical tasks facing NPO Saturn and other companies in the cluster in the area of innovative solutions to technological preparation of production, optimizing production processes and energy efficiency, cooperation between research organizations and industrial companies on developing new products, and improving existing industrial processes, as well as training and improving qualifications of specialists.

NPO Saturn is an engine-building company specializing in development, production, and aftersales servicing of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, electrical generating and gas transport facilities, and military and civil marine vessels. Saturn is a part of the Managing Company JSC United Engine Corporation.

Managing Company JSC United Engine Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of OBORONPROM. More than 85 % of the leading companies specializing in development, mass production, and aftersales servicing of gas turbine technology are integrated into UEC, as well as key companies in other selected fields. One of UECs priority directions is implementing comprehensive programs for developing companies by implementing new technologies that meet international standards
