Gas piston unit made by Saturn Gas Turbines has successfully undergone inter-agency tests

29.08.2013, Rybinsk. On August 29 the RGPEU-2.0 2 mW gas piston power unit to supply the Nadymsky line production management of main pipelines of Gazprom Transgas Yugorsk successfully passed the first stage of inter-agency testing.

On August 27-29 Gazpromís qualified inter-agency committee visited the company to conduct a range of tests to check the function of the unit, specifically:

  • checking the working capacity of the systems and nodes of the RGPEU-2.0
  • checking the conformity of the unitís working parameters with the clientís technical specifications
  • checking the conformity of the environmental characteristics with standards, including the composition of harmful emissions, noise parameters, electromagnetic emissions, lighting at workstations, overall vibration at workstations, and others

Upon completion of testing they signed the Act of compliance of the RGPEU-2.0 with the technical specifications and stated technical characteristics.

The testing was conducted at the Saturn Gas Turbines open testing stand, which was built in record time. The stand was equipped with Crestchic (UK) equipment and can carry out a full range of testing at the manufacturerís facilities. That way, the company has the chance to delivery to the client gas piston units that are fully ready to go.

Gas piston power units are a fundamentally new type of product for Saturn Gas Turbines. The companyís strategy envisages launching RGPEUs of 1 to 4 mW.

The RGPEU-2.0 includes an engine made by MTU (Germany), one of the leading manufacturers of engines on the world market. The Saturn Gas Turbines design firm developed a consistent package for gas piston units of 1 to 2 mW, which can be adapted for any manufacturer. The engine and other systems can be serviced without taking apart the container, which is undoubtedly an advantage for Saturn Gas Turbines products.

Saturn Gas Turbines is an integrated supplier of high-efficiency terrestrial power equipment for Gazprom, power-generating companies, public utilities, oil and gas companies, and energy-intensive companies.

Saturn Gas Turbines is the United Engine Corporationís head company for manufacturing power and gas transportation units and building power generation facilities.

Managing Company JSC United Engine Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of OBORONPROM.
