Upcoming engines for military aviation will be tested in Lytkarino

The Ufa Engine Industrial Association ó head of United Engine Corporation (ODK) division Engines for Military Aviation ó will conduct testing on upcoming products at the Lytkarinsky Machine-building Plant stands.

All testing for aviation engines for the division Engines for Military Aviation will be concentrated at LMZ and will be conducted as part of research and development work. This solution has significantly lightened the burden on testing facilities at UMPOís main facility, which were previously engaged in testing both experimental and in-production items.

Now to conduct research and state joint testing in the process of developing the engine at first and in the future, and for the second stage of the AFAS (T-50) they are using the capacity at Lytkarino.

At present the technical project for the second stage engine which is being jointly developed by UMPO, Salyut, Motor, and OAO NPO Saturn, is being prepared to be presented at the state level.

The Lytkarinsky Machine-building Plant became an affiliate of UMPO in early 2013 and is today the main testing and R&D facility for the division Engines for Military Aviation.

OAO Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UMPO) is one of the largest producers of aviation engines in Russia. Its turnover in 2010 was 20,376 billion rubles. Its primary areas of business are the production, service, and repair of turbo-jet aviation engines and gas turbine units, as well as production and repair of helicopter technology units. OAO UMPO is part of the United Engine Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OAO OPK OBORONPROM handling engine-building assets. The association is part of the Russian Industrialists Union, the Bashkortostan regional department of which is headed by OAO UMPO managing director A. V. Artyukhov.

The division Engines for Military Aviation is a business unit of the United Engine Corporation which includes companies and design firms which make and develop aviation engines for military applications. The divisionís list of main programs include engines for the AFAS (T-50), the AL-41F01S (117S) engine, the RD-33 and AL-31 family of engines, as well as developing, repairing, and servicing GTU. The division was organized in 2011 and includes UMPO (the head of the division) and its affiliates Lyulki and Lytkarinsky Machine-building Plant, OAO Chernyshev MMP, OAO NPP Motor, and FGUP Research and Production Center of Gas Turbine production Salyut and affiliates (by agreement). The divisionís consolidated turnover in 2012 was 56, 070 million rubles.

OAO OPK OBORONPROM is a multi-faceted machine-building group founded in 2002. It is part of the Russian Technologies group of companies. Its primary areas of business are helicopters (Russian Helicopters), engine-building (UC United Engine Corporation), and other assets.
