Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Klimov factory, part of Rostech United Engine Corporation (UEC). As part of the visit there was a meeting highlighting the potential for development of domestic aviation engine building.
The President learned about the work to build an innovative design and industrial complex, Klimov leads at Shuvalovo.
This is a unique project for the Russian aviation industry. Here on this single plot there will be powerful design, testing, and production facilities. After the facility is opened the company will be located entirely on this site. Klimov has already transferred 30% of production to the site — the production building, logistics and galvanizing, and also the furnace are already finished. And the construction of an administrative and design building is in the final stage.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin, Russian Minister for Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, Deputy General Director of Rostech, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UEC Vladimir Artyakov, General Director of OBORONPROM Dmitri Lelikov, General Director of UEC Vladislav Masalov, and the Managing Directors of UEC took part in the meeting devoted to long-term development of engine building.
“In accordance with the state goals set, the companies belonging to UEC have preserved a whole model range of products,” said Deputy General Director of Rostech Vladimir Artyakov. “We are implementing promising projects to create next-generation engines for military and civil aviation. Today UEC faces the task of creating a flexible and modern industrial model, with production processes certified under international standards and an efficient system of developing new products. This strategy will ensure UEC’s leading positions on both the domestic and foreign markets.”
“Since UEC was founded in 2008, the corporation was improved the majority of its operating indicators,” noted Vladislav Masalov. “In particular, the output of engines has doubled in all the segments except for rocket engines, where the volumes have remained stable. Turnover has also doubled — from 92.1 billion rubles in 2009 to 158.9 billion rubles forecast for 2013 results.” According to the head of UEC, the Russian Ministry of Defence played a role in the positive developments, by renewing purchases of new aviation technology. “This allowed us to increase volumes and confirm our position on the global market. The volume of UEC’s state defence contracts in 2013 amounts to 38.9 billion rubles, or 24.9% of the total,” added Masalov.
