December 20, 2013, Rybinsk On December 17, 2013, representatives from the high command of the Russian navy visited NPO Saturn.
As a part of the visit they looked at the product line of NPO Saturnís engines and units based on those engines under production and development, including for electric propulsion of vessels. They saw the entire cycle of production from special high-temperature corrosion-resistant materials. They looked at the companyís potential to design, produce, and deliver products for maritime application on board naval vessels.
The navy representatives visited the companyís stand testing facility, and got acquainted with the course of construction of the new assembly and testing facility.
In discussing problematic issues the representatives expressed their opinions about the practicability of brining in NPO Saturn for delivery of shipboard gas turbine engines and units based on them for new naval vessels, as well as NPO Saturnís participation in modernization of operational vessels.
NPO Saturn is an engine-building company specializing in the development, production, and aftersales servicing of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, electrical generating and gas transport facilities, and military and civil marine vessels. It is a part of the Russian Industrialists Union, the Yaroslavl regional department of which is headed by NPO Saturn managing director I. N. Fedorov.
NPO Saturn is a part of the United Engine Corporation and is the head of the Engines for Civil Aviation division, a UEC business unit founded 09.12.2012 and comprised of NPO Saturn, Aviadvigatel, PMZ, Metallist-PM, Energetik-PM, REMOS-PM, Motorservice-PM, and Zheleznedorozhnik-PM.
