Saturn Gas Turbines has launched into operation a 24 mW power station for Tomskneft oil company

On December 26 at the Dvurechensky oil field of Tomskneft was the ceremonial launch of the GTES-24 24 mW gas turbine power station. The station is comprised of four GTA-6RM units made by Saturn Gas Turbines. In fulfilling this large project, Saturn Gas Turbines has acted as an outside contractor, fulfilling a range of work connected with the planning, production, delivery, and installation of equipment as well as construction of the facility.

“The gas turbine power station is another significant facility built with the aim of increasing the level of utilization of associated petroleum gas, both in the region and as a whole throughout the company,” said general director of Tomskneft oil company Vladimir Aleksandrovich Paltsev. “The new power station will help us to avoid an energy deficit in exploiting the reserves of the Vasyugansky group of deposits. This is the second facility built together with Saturn Gas Turbines, and I hope it won’t be the last. I would like to thank all the people who worked on it. For us this facility is very important from the point of view of eliminating the deficit of energy capacity and increasing the reliability of power systems on the whole, because the stability of our work depends largely on how stable our power provision is.”

The GTES will utilize 58.5 million cubic meters of associated petroleum gas per year from the Krapivinsky, Dvurechensky, and Zapadno-Moiseevsky oil fields, located in the Tomsk region. The station will help increase the utilization of APG at these sites from 25.6% to 88.2%, and the electrical generation capacity of the company will reach a total of nearly 70 mW.

“The most important, in my opinion, is that with the launch of this facility we will solve two important tasks — power provision and environmental issues,” said managing director of Saturn Gas Turbines Igor Dmitrievich Yudin. “This is a big contribution to Russia’s environmental program. We are utilizing associated petroleum gas — not flashing off the gas — and this prevents harmful emissions. The leaders, who are setting a goal of solving the problems of utilizing APG, are solving this problem for the country.

In order to launch these kinds of facilities, we must have the will and the capabilities. This is not a simple energy system, not simple infrastructure, but nevertheless, we are capable of creating such complex facilities in a short period of time.”

Saturn Gas Turbines is a full-cycle company: the company carries out all work from planning to installation to launch of the facilities, and is prepared to provide servicing throughout the entire operational cycle. The GTES-24 at the Dvurechensky oil field is a standard station, reliable and convenient in operation. It uses modern systems of automated management. The advantage of using Russian-made equipment in the station is that it helps to avoid problems with obtaining spare parts and technical servicing.

The first station that Saturn Gas Turbines built in 2011 for Tomskneft Oil Company was GTES-12, 12 mW capacity, at the Igolsk-Talov oil field.

To date, Saturn Gas Turbines is developing its work with Rosneft (Tomskneft oil company is a Rosneft subsidiary). The company is leading installation and participating in the launch of six RGPEU-2.0 gas transportation units of 2 mW capacity on Sakhalin Island.
