Perm Engine builders take part in preparations for the 2014 Olympics

On the eve of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, additional capacity was launched at the Krasnodar compressor station  the Perm Engine Company replaced two GTU-12P (gas turbine units of 12 mW capacity) with GTU-16P, thereby increasing the total capacity of the station to 68 mW.

The goal of the capacity increase was to ensure simultaneous maximum productivity on the two most important gas pipelines  Blue Stream (from Russia to Turkey) and Dzhubga-Lazarevskoye-Sochi.

The Perm GTUs have been working at the Krasnodarskaya compressor station since 2002. From the beginning, the station was operating five GTU-12Ps, two of which in 2013 were replaced for GTUs of bigger capacity for reliable energy provision to the capital of the Winter Olympics and Olympic facilities.

Perm engines comprising the Krasnodarskaya compressor station from the beginning of operations have functioned as well as possible. All the GTU-12Ps working at the compressor station have worked for more than 30,000 hours without capital repairs.

Mikhail Kedalo, deputy commercial director and head of client support at Perm Engine Company:

-In order to prevent disruptions in gas deliveries to Olympic facilities, our technical specialists will remain in place at the station throughout the Winter Olympic Games. Responsibility for soling all technical matters in operating GTUs at the Krasnodarskaya compressor station lies on their shoulders. We have also sent another engine to Krasnodar as a back-up, which will work in the event of an unforeseen problem.

Sergei Popov, managing director of Perm Engine Company:

We are cheering for our athletes and supporting them with the quality products of the Perm Engine Company. We congratulate all participants in the Olympics and all guests of the city of Sochi! And we wish our team good luck in winning as many medals as possible and setting new world records!

For information

Launching additional capacity will allow the increase of productivity at the Krasnodarskaya compressor station from 50 to 73.2 million cubic meters of gas per 24 hours. In the future, the additional capacity at the station will also be used in the installation of mains gas to the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar region.
