Engines from UECs Samara company provided a successful start for the Soyuz-ST rocket launcher at the KourouSpaceport

On Friday, April 4 at 01:02 Moscow Time, the space rocket Soyuz-ST-A with Fregat-MT launching block and Sentinel-1A remote Earth sensing equipment was successfully launched from the Kourou Spaceport (Guiana Space Center, French Guiana).

The engines for the first and second stage were RD-107A/RD-108A made by Kuznetsov (part of United Engine Corporation), and installed on the Samara-made Soyuz-ST-A rocket launcher. They worked successfully.

The operation of the Samara rocket and engines from the Guiana Space Center began in October 2011. This is already the seventh launch of the Soyuz-ST with RD-107A/RD-108A engines from the Kourou Spaceport.

Immediately after the successful launch, Roscosmos and the European company Arianespace signed a contract for delivery by 2019 of seven Russian Soyuz-ST rocket carriers to launch from the Kourou Spaceport.
